It also shows that this H1 has been exclusively registered in California. The civilian version of the HMMWV — or Humvee — was built between 1992 and 2006 at an AM General plant in Indiana. Numerous attributes that made the original armed forces version such a success in combat were carried into the civilian model, including portal axles, a central tire inflation system, and a high-mounted air induction system for water fording. The Hummer wasn’t directly replaced. Power comes from a 6.5-liter turbodiesel V8, rated at 195 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
