THIS… is a Porsche 356 Speedster Replica, finished in silver with a black and white interior. This roadster is a replica of a Porsche 356. Street-legal and titled as a 1966 Volkswagen in New Jersey, this 356 Speedster Replica has reportedly been built by Vintage Motorcars of California, and it’s based on a Volkswagen Beetle. A partial list of notable currently installed equipment reported by the seller includes 15-inch wheels, a widebody kit, leather upholstery, a MOMO steering wheel and a shift knob, and a VDO instrument panel. Released in 1948, the 356 was the first car built by Porsche. It featured a rear-mounted flat-4 related to the Volkswagen Beetle’s engine, sleek styling, and sporty handling. Porsche released several variants of the 356, including coupes and roadsters, and production ended in 1965. Several aftermarket companies gave the 356 a second lease on life by resurrecting it as an affordable Beetle-based kit car. Power comes from a 2.3-liter flat-4 engine, rated at approximately 145 horsepower by Vintage Motorcars. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission.
